Abstract
This study was to exam the effect of psychological discomfort among women with infertility on their attitudes towards professional help-seeking and to determine whether self-concealment through negative social self-concept had a moderated mediating effect. A total of 297 women with infertility completed a self-report scale that measured levels of psychological discomfort, professional help-seeking attitude, negative social self-concepts, and self-concealment. The data were analyzed using Hierarchical Regression Analysis and Hayes' PROCESS Macro. The results were as follows: First, levels of professional help-seeking attitude became lower as a result of perceived negative social-concept for women who experienced psychological discomfort. Additionally, higher levels of the self-concealment tendency was related to higher levels of the negative self-concept, which in turn led to the lower levels of professional help-seeking attitude toward solving psychological discomfort. Implicaitnos for future research are discussed.
